Comments:
1) Reaction was not confirmed. Alternate reaction is also proposed to account for the CH3OSc product.
2) This reaction product was not observed. CH3OScH is the main product. The reactions of scandium atoms and methanol molecules were investigated by matrix isolation infrared absorption spectroscopy. Scandium atoms were produced with laser ablation and co-deposited with methanol in an argon cryogenic matrix. The products were observed to increase as the matrix was annealed.
