Title:   Atmospheric degradation of alkylfurans with chlorine atoms: Product and mechanistic study
Journal:   Atmos. Environ.
Volume:   43
Page(s):   2804 - 2813
Year:   2009
Reference type:   Journal article
Squib:   2009VIL/CAB2804-2813

Reaction:   2-Methylfuran + ·Cl → Products
Reaction order:   2
Temperature:   296 K
Pressure:  1.00 bar
Rate expression:   no rate data available
Category:  Experiment
Data type:   Mechanistic information only
Pressure dependence:   None reported
Experimental procedure:   Static or low flow - Data taken vs time
Excitation technique:   Direct photolysis
Time resolution:   By end product analysis
Analytical technique:   Fourier transform (FTIR)
Comments:   Products of the reactions of chlorine atoms with 2-methylfuran were studied in smog chambers using gas chromatography, GC/MS, and FTIR spectroscopy. Evidence for the H-atom abstraction from the alkyl group was obtained. No rate constant values were reported.
