Comments:   Measured rate constants for reaction of Cu in ground (2S) and excited states (2D5/2, 2D3/2). Decay of ground state copper measured using atomic resonance absorption at 327.4 nm. Decay of excited state copper measured using LIF at 578.2 nm and 510.6 nm. Absolute rate constants calibrated versus flow rate using decay of Ar(3P2) of 7.4(1.5)E-10 cm3/s as reference. Branching ratios for CuF/CuCl where measured by integrated chemiluminescence signals.

Total pressure 0.1 torr Ne. Used approx. 0.1 mtorr 10% ClF/He. Cu atoms produced by sputter discharge with density approx. 1E11 cm-3.

From vibrational energy disposal, derived Do(CuF) of 34,300 cm-1.
