Author(s):   Orlando, J.J.
Title:   Temperature Dependence of the Rate Coefficients for the Reaction of Chlorine Atoms with Chloromethanes
Journal:   Int. J. Chem. Kinet.
Volume:   31
Page(s):   515 - 524
Year:   1999
Reference type:   Journal article
Squib:   1999ORL515-524

Reaction:   ClCOOH → HC(O)Cl + ·Cl
Reaction order:   1
Temperature:   218 K
Pressure:  0.93 bar
Rate expression:   4.0x106 [s-1]
Category:  Experiment
Data type:   Derived from fitting to a complex mechanism
Experimental procedure:   Static or low flow - Data taken vs time
Excitation technique:   Direct photolysis
Time resolution:   In real time
Analytical technique:   Fourier transform (FTIR)
Comments:   Rate constant was calculated from the modeling with the rate constant of CHCl2O+O2->COCl2+HO2 estimated to be 1e-14cm3/molecule. If A factor for CHCl2O->HCOCl+Cl is estimated to be 1e13, the activation energy is about 6 kcal/mole which is lower than the 12 kcal /mole estimated in 1987RAY/RAY203.
