Comments:
The rates of gas-phase elimination of several beta-substituted diethyl acetals have been determined in a static system seasoned with allyl bromide. Toluene, a free radical inhibitor, was added in order to prevent any possible chain reactions. Both pressure measurements and gsa chromatography were used to determine rate constants and channel branching. The results are expressed in the following form: log(k / (s-1 ) = (13.60 ± 0.16) - (219.0 ± 2.3) kJ mol-1 (2.303RT)-1.
