Title:   The mechanisms of the homogeneous, unimolecular, elimination kinetics of several beta-substituted diethyl acetals in the gas-phase
Journal:   J. Phys. Org. Chem.
Volume:   23
Page(s):   845 - 852
Year:   2010
Reference type:   Journal article
Squib:   2010MOR/MAL845-852

Reaction:   Piperidine, 1-(2,2-diethoxyethyl)- → CH3CH2OCH=CH-cyc-NC5H10 + C2H5OH
Reaction order:   1
Temperature:   644 - 695 K
Pressure:  3.07E-2 - 0.21 bar
Rate expression:   6.03x1013 [s-1] e-215100 [±2900 J/mole]/RT
Category:  Experiment
Data type:   Absolute value measured directly
Pressure dependence:   Rate constant is pressure independent
Experimental procedure:   Static or low flow - Data taken vs time
Excitation technique:   Thermal
Time resolution:   In real time
Analytical technique:   Pressure measurement
Comments:   The rates of gas-phase elimination of several beta-substituted diethyl acetals have been determined in a static system seasoned with allyl bromide. Toluene, a free radical inhibitor, was added in order to prevent any possible chain reactions. Both pressure measurements and gsa chromatography were used to determine rate constants and channel branching. The results are expressed in the following form: log(k / (s-1 ) = (13.78 ± 0.23) - (215.1 ± 2.9) kJ mol-1 (2.303RT)-1.
