Fourier transform (FTIR)
Experiments were carried out in three different setups:
- a 5870 L evacuable Teflon coated chamber with FTIR;
- a 7900 L Teflon chamber with GC-FID and GC-MS
- a 7500 L Teflon chamber with the atmosphere pressure ionization MS (API-MS)
OH was generated by the photolysis of CH3ONO or C2H5ONO at wavelengths above 300 nm in the presence of NO.
The reference reaction was OH + cyclohexene with the accepted k = 7.21E-12 cm3molecule-1s-1.
The resulting rate constant is given with the indicated error which is two standard deviations and does not include the uncertainty of the reference reaction rate constant.
Reaction products and branching ratios are reported:
formaldehyde: 0.38 ?0.08
organic nitrates: 0.18 ?0.05
acetaldehyde: 0.15 ?0.03
propanal: 0.10 ?0.02
butanal: 0.07 ?0.01
pentanal: 0.09 ?0.01
