Comments:   No rate data are reported. Reactions of Sc, Ti, and V with NH3 in a solid argon matrix have been studied by infrared spectroscopy and density functional calculations. The ground-state metal atoms (M) spontaneously reacted with NH3 to form MNH3 complexes on annealing. IR spectra, geometries, adn calculated vibrational fequencies are reported and the reaction mechanisms are discussed.
