Experimental study directed at probing the evidence for prompt CO2 formation observed under some conditions. HCCO was produced by 193 nm photolysis of Ethy ethynyl ether CH3CH2-O-C#CH. CO and CO2 were detected using Fourier transform emission. Total pressure about 1.1 torr in He. Typically used 8E14 to 1E16/cm3 O2 and estimated <5E13/cm3 of HCCO.
From measurements estimated that HCCO + O2 -> CO2 + CO + H is greater than 90% of the product distribution. Other possible channel is CO + CO + OH. Estimated value comes several method, assuming vibrational Temperature, quantum efficiences, densities, and the like. However, authors indicated that data strongly suggests that CO2 prompt channel is dominant. Their best estimate is that the other channel is at most 2-10%, if not smaller.
