Title:   Atmospheric degradation of 3-methylfuran: kinetic and products study
Journal:   Atmos. Chem. Phys.
Volume:   11
Page(s):   3227 - 3241
Year:   2011
Book Title:   ''
Editor:   ''
Publisher:   ''
Publisher address:   ''
Comments:   ''
Reference type:   Journal article
Squib:   2011TAP/VIL3227-3241

Reaction:   3-Methylfuran + NO3 → Products
Reaction order:   2
Reference reaction:   (CH3)2C=CHCH3 + NO3 → Products
Temperature:   298 K
Pressure:  1.01 bar
Rate expression:   9.0x10-12 [±2.0x10-12 cm3/molecule s]
Category:  Experiment
Data type:   Relative value normalized by a reference value
Pressure dependence:   None reported
Experimental procedure:   Static or low flow - Data taken vs time
Excitation technique:   Thermal
Time resolution:   By end product analysis
Analytical technique:   Fourier transform (FTIR)
Comments:   Indicated error represents a combination of two least-squares standard deviation and the uncertainty in the reference rate constant. Analysis of final products of the ensuing sequence of reactions in air indicates that the main reaction path is the addition to the double bond of the aromatic ring followed by ring opening.
